2012 Horseback Riding Summer Camp Program
Windchime Stables’ equestrian day camp program is in its 2nd year and offers a comprehensive equestrian program. It combines qualified staff, experienced horses, and excellent facilities to create an atmosphere where campers can advance their riding skills, expand their horsemanship knowledge, and enjoy riding with friends. Everyone is welcome to attend our horse camps, including children with no previous riding experience. We strive to personalize the camp adventure to individual skill levels. Our summer camps are designed for all ages and we focus more on beginning-level horsemanship. Campers ride on horseback every day. New riders develop their skills with mounting, dismounting, starting, walking, turning, and stopping. Advanced riders are challenged with new riding activities and skill tests.
2012 Summer Camp Details
Purpose: To provide the student an opportunity to learn new and better techniques of horsemanship and to enjoy the fellowship of other riders and volunteers. The camp is designed to increase the horse knowledge, horsemanship skills and showing techniques of the advanced rider as well as to introduce beginner riders to the basics of horsemanship.
2012 Dates: Session 1: Friday, June 1st through Sunday, June 3rd
Session 2: Friday, June 8th through Sunday, June 10th
Session 3: Friday, June 15th through Sunday, June 17th
Location: Windchime Stables LLC, 150 Montgomery Road, Columbia SC 29203
Cost: Camp tuition is $100 per session and includes riding lessons, insurance, materials, etc. Tuition is to be paid by April 30th to ensure your child’s space in the program. Any fees and paperwork submitted after April 30th are subject to a $50 late fee.
Camper Eligibility: Open to youth, between the ages of 6 and older. Active enrollment is based upon the discretion of the Equine Summer Program Director. Each camp session is limited to 12 participants.
Registration: Campers must submit completed application and fees to Emily Murray, Equine Summer Program Director, Windchime Stables LLC, 150 Montgomery Road, Columbia SC 29203 no later than April 30, 2012. Any application or fee submitted after April 30th is subject to $50 late fee.
Time: 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Friday. 9a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
After hours care: Please be sure to reserve a place in our before-care and/or after-care programs at the time that you register for camp. Before-care and after-care costs $10 per hour or part-hour.
Food & Drink: Please bring a bag lunch each day. Ice water stations and snacks are provided.
Equipment: Campers need to bring a safety helmet (horseback riding helmet or bicycle helmet), which must be worn whenever mounted. Campers should wear jeans or riding breeches. Boots with a heel are required. Campers should also bring sunscreen and insect repellent.
